lovestories is an interactive story mobile game with a Free-To-Play monetization model that allows the player to unlock premium dialog choices and character customization options through hard currency.

With the success of interactive story mobile games like “Episodes” or “Choices” the German book publisher “Carlsen Verlag” wanted to release their own version of such games filled with stories written exclusively for the app or interactive version of their own published book series.

My tasks and responsibilities in chronological order:

  1. Directing the narrative design of the first exclusive story “Die Eisrose, written by the author Lena Falkenhagen, and implementing the scripts directly in the engine.

  2. Owning the development of the second story “Mein Rockstar” which is based on the first book of the “Die Rockstar-Reihe” series and entails 20 episodes with a playing length of 5 minutes each:

    1. Analyzing the book template and designing a new story structure with branching paths that offer new scenes that are not included in the book.

    2. Rewriting the book into dialog-focused script form and adding branching narrative paths with entire new story lines, while working closely with an editor and product owner from Carlsen.

    3. Monitoring the implementation of the story and communicating the development to stakeholders and partners.
